Watford were a disgruntled mess at the end of last season under that bloke who looked like a minor Mafia don.
They seem to have added a good manager and addressed some of their problems especially with Richarlison. No England’s no1 or expensive Stoke players but ones that they needed.
They conceded 6 to Man City ( I can see us conceding 12 if Man City are up for it) and 4 at Chelsea in a game they actually should have won.

I do not know too much about Watfords squad, but I know our squad and it is a good squad, but most are not playing well as individuals and none are playing as a team with understanding and fight in unity.
I have seen the best squads in the world look shit for the same reason, often happens in Real Madrid.
Not sure how you change it. Hope Moyes does

Before yesterday, they had conceded 21 goals in 11 games, only 2 fewer than us. They'd had 7 shots on target at home all season, 6 fewer than the next worst. They are shit, we are more shit

I should add I like what I've seen of Watford this season and they look well capable of a top 10 place. They have built a really robust proficient squad that I feel is much better than ours in most departments.

Well yes, if we're considering situations that didn't occur it has to be hypothetical. I think Watford looked ready to cope with hypothetical match situations much more readily than we did. I thought Moyes was very honest really - he mentioned the chances but admitted we deserved nothing from the game.

We could have scored one or more of those chances it's true. But my read of it was that Watford looked very comfortable and in control, and if we'd scored and they'd have had to up a gear they looked well capable of doing that. Whereas we saw everything our players had to offer on the day and it was nowhere near deserving anything.

We were poor but Kouyaté (twice) & Arnautovic should have scored and Lanzini was denied by a great goal line block.
Along with the albino handling the ball in the buildup for the second goal and the first coming from a mishit shot falling perfectly for the said translucent footballer we didn’t have much of the luck going.

At the bottom line, we are simply nowhere near fit enough.
Even the poor sides know that if they can stay with us for sixty minutes, their chances will come before the game is over. How many times this season has that happened?

It will take a lot more time than he has unfortunately.
Does he have the tactical nous? Watford outplayed us in midfield and exposed our limitations. Easily pressed/closed down, players without the confidence, ability, pace, stamina to pass at speed and accurately to keep the ball. A big man up top making us so predictable.
What I fear is he will make the mistake Bilic made and try to attack Leicester and play into their hands which is to counter attack at speed and expose the heavy legged players we seem to have throughout the team.

Wiltell - at what point in your mind does the manager come into blame for a poor loss at Watford?
First game or not, it was his setup and his instructions.
That's not me saying I don't want him to succeed, but if you're going to dissect a performance then the manager is as open to blame as the players. To pretend otherwise is nonsense

No, it was a crap performance. We lacked commitment, belief and application. That team is capable of FAR better than what they served up. If Moyes wants to resurrect his management career, he'll have to sort it out pronto.
